One should watch. Just before going to bed. And then drift away. For the full spiritual effect. A feeling of Being at One with the Cosmos. --Jim

What has happened to the collective soul of our society?
When the Native American cultures flourished. Maybe those were the good old
times. Now we live in the hustle-bustle and political turmoil of the modern
era. Makes me wonder. If we have to look to the best in our past. To salvage a
more perfect soul. A more perfect union. A more perfect future. --Jim

Don't confuse the spiritual/soul with the physical realm. These tribal elders haven't sold their souls. They are delving into true salvation. Inwardly. They are connecting to the cosmos. Finding the true meaning of life. They are doing a better job of it. Than we late-coming invaders of the American continent. I want more of a collective soulfulness. That connects to the cosmos. To the full scope of creation. I am fearful. That we Americans have lost our way. That we are selling our collective soul. In the here and now. We are rejecting the inherent goodness of life. For something foul and putrid. At least, individually, we can escape to the spiritual realm. And find solace there. Isn't that what these tribal elders are doing? --Jim

There is no nor has there ever been Utopia. Man has not changed since the beginning of time. You do not agree? Give me a for instance where I am wrong.

Some societies come closer than others to achieving the
common good. But there is no Utopia. Here on Earth, that is. Maybe on other planets. In other galaxies.
That’s why I want to become a free-moving spirit. Able to circumnavigate the
Cosmos. All of creation. I can do that. If I become a god. I will find Utopia.
Paradise. It has to be there. Somewhere. Maybe only in the spiritual realm. I
have not been fully born. Until I become a full and complete spirit. --Jim

I am a natural born dreamer. I even dream when I'm awake. Sometimes, for 24 hours. Non-stop. Maybe my life is one big fantastic dream. --Jim

There's a great book called Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging by Sebastian Junger. In it, he describes that in the early days of America, generally speaking, whenever Western European people or their descendants were captured by or ran away to join Native American tribes, that they did not seek a return to their old lives. In some cases, they were forcibly rescued. But even then, they would run away to rejoin their tribes. The communal way of living that the Native Americans practiced was more appealing to them, than what their old lives had been like, even though, living in cities living offered more safety and comfort. Conversely, Native Americans had no desire to live in Western communities or adopt Western mores.
