Hope lives on! In case you didn't receive this:

This week marks the first anniversary of the enactment of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA). Last January the Alzheimer’s Association® was thrilled to share with you the news that President Obama had signed this historic legislation into law, promising that for the first time in its history the United States would have a bold plan to overcome the Alzheimer’s epidemic.

Now we are approaching a new, historic moment. In the coming days and weeks, the Administration will show the Alzheimer’s community if NAPA’s true promise will be fulfilled.

The Administration will soon release a framework for the National Alzheimer’s Plan for discussion by the Association’s CEO, Harry Johns, and other members of NAPA Advisory Council in their second meeting on January, 17-18. Then, in early February, the President will make his budget request to Congress. If that request contains significant new resources to elevate the fight against Alzheimer’s, this President will take a step on behalf of the Alzheimer’s community unlike any that has ever been taken before.

Please be ready to act.

You made NAPA happen one year ago. Now we will need your voice to ensure the promise of NAPA is fulfilled. We will need the President to know that we are depending on him to launch what his Administration has promised will be an “aggressive and coordinated” campaign to overcome Alzheimer’s.

In the days ahead, count on us to send you news as we receive it, and critical opportunities to take action. Please ACT and ask your family and friends to join us. This is the moment. We must WILL be heard.

Sincerely,

Robert Egge
Vice President, Public Policy
Alzheimer’s Association
