Well, the day of the walk in my area, it rained.  I bailed on the walk.  I have foot

issues and did not want to make them worse with wet feet/blisters.  Association gets

money anyway. It happened to fall on my 60th birthday and the first day of my

retirement. But... my son and his girlfriend drove 4 hours to get here for the walk and

he and she walked the 2 miles in bad weather.  Because she raised $1200!!

I felt very honored.  I told him that she is a keeper!

A belated Happy Birthday, Abuela!

Happy Retirement!

YEA, for Team Abuela--your son and his girlfriend-- for walking 2 miles in the rain and raising $1200 for Alzheimer's research!

Abuela,

Both kids are keepers. And also sounds as if your son is a good supporter of you!

Yes.  He is a keeper also.  He is almost 5 years in remission from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He is fine now.  He was 29 when it happened.  So he knows how important it is to accept support and how important it is to give it.

Fingers crossed he gets a good report in Nov.

Again, I am a lucky, lucky lady!  Very grateful.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a great one!

Hi Abuela,

Your family has had it's share of bad news.

How have you been feeling since your retirement?

Thank you.  Gegge I am 60.  But (laughing here now... I may have said 80)

Mimi

I feel fine since retirement.  I am taking each day as it comes and it seems fine that way for now.  As I told some friends this weekend... I have pressed the "pause" button for awhile to decide which way to go.  For right now, I am going to do some (not a ton) volunteer work and my own projects around the house.

And thanks for asking.

Yesterday I attended a friend's mother's 90th birthday party!  It was wonderful to see her healthy and spry, walking around and talking up a storm with everyone.  She enjoyed having her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends along to celebrate her day.

May we all have many wonderful years ahead!  We have to keep going, step by step, as best we can.  We don't know what is in store for us, but we must make the most of what we have and adapt with the changes that confront us.
