A Ride to Remember is normally a bike ride from the foothills of South Carolina (Simpsonville) to the southern coast of South Carolina (Charleston) one weekend in late July. This year it is a Virtual Ride Challenge. There is no registration fee and participants don't need to pay for lodging. Participants are asked to do some fundraising for the Alzheimer's Association and to bike at least 252 miles in July.
I'm signed up for A Ride to Remember 2020. This is helpful for me: I don't have to pay for lodging, etc. Biking is a stress relief for me. This ride is a good way to "pay it forward". (My husband died of Alzheimer's Disease 4/26/2020.)

Update: The month isn't over yet, and I have ridden 303.68 miles so far. My most difficult ride was 7/11/2020. A fellow rider kept telling me that my husband now knows who i am and is proud of me for accomplishing this ride!

Update:
A Ride to Remember 2020 has raised $454,256.72 for the Alzheimer's Association this month. The fundraising goal is $ 650,000, and we have the remainder of July to reach that goal - I think we'll make it (and possibly exceed the goal)!

During A Ride to Remember, a difficult ride that I did with 2 other riders: One of the other riders cheered me on the whole time. She told me that my husband now knows me and is proud of me!
Also during A Ride to Remember, I kept my husband's family updated on my mileage, etc. On July 27 my husband's sister in law told me that she is proud of my progress in the event and so is my husband!

Tess C I rode 574.07 miles in the month of July and raised $1600 dollars for AA!
I don't drive, so I still bike for transportation AND for recreation.
My husband's Celebration of Life is Saturday.
