I'm 32 and took care of my grandpa from 7th grade until a year before he passed. He was diagnosed with Alz when I was in 7th grade. He was my hero and best friend. I watched him go from this strong man to a new born baby until the week before my 20th birthday. Even though it has been 12 years as of August 31st it still feels like yesterday that I said bye to him. I had to be the strong one for everyone else in my family and never got to grieve properly. I truly believe he was with me and had his arms around me on November 7th. He was also watching over my 2 year old son. My son fell and hit his head. He ended up bleeding between his brain and skull. Over half of the blood in his little body was now in his head. The surgeon told us that he was 5-15 minutes away from dying. I believe my grandpa wrapped his arms around me to keep me calm while on the phone with 911 and was there to catch, so to speak, my 2 year old as he fell so he wouldn't hit as hard. I dislike the disease and always wish my grandpa was still here to meet his great grandsons. I have been looking for a place where others understand and just now came across this.

Hi, there.  It's nice to meet you.  I remember several years ago there was a young man who was the sole caretaker of his grandmother until she passed.  There are so many young people who put their lives "on hold" to take care of a beloved family member.

Definitely, your grandfather was there when your son was hurt and provided his loving care.  Our loved ones that have passed are always with us, I have no doubt about this.

Take care, Debra.

I wanted to cry when I read your post. My heart broke in 2 for you. I am so sorry and I am praying for your son. Please let us know how he is doing.
You are a wonderful person to take care of your grandfather and now your injured son. You will be blessed for your kindness and loving care.

Hugs,
LJ

My son is doing awesome. He was released from the hospital 5 days after his accident and is recovering perfectly. He is one strong little boy. He has my grandpa watching over him that's for sure.
