I know this topic has been posted quite a few times but I'm hoping Lane will jump in and help me by telling me the oils we should be using as part of best practices

I really appreciate it

Most certainly.  For cognition use oils high in eugenol such as clove, nutmeg, holy basil, and rosemary. Eugenol can increase anxiety in some people.  Use two or three of the following oils in the morning.  In the evening and/or if a person has a negative response to eugenol (mainly anxiety), use essential oils high in linalool for relaxation such as lavender, rose, sweet orange, and bergamot.  Some essential oils such as bay laurel and lemon balm contain both eugenol and linalool and may help improve cognition and reduce anxiety.  Direct inhalation (breathe deeply for a few seconds under each nostril) likely works better than a diffuser because more of the compounds in the essential oil reach the brain.

Let us know what results you see.  In many but not all cases, aromatherapy has produced positive results.

Coconut oil might be somewhat helpful.  It does not appear to help those with a particular gene (APOE4) and it can cause stomach upset.  I have a research friend who has used it as a massage oil for his aunt with Alzheimer's disease and he said it has helped her.
