Life is meant to be lived. With the presumption of an afterlife. Doesn’t matter. Whether there really is. But it’s best to assume. (At least for me.) That when death comes. I’ll be stepping into a new and wondrous reality. If not, so be it. I’ll finally be proved wrong. Without knowing it. I’d rather live in anticipation of something. Rather than in denial of my most fervent wish. That’s the proper way to get through life. With a brilliantly concocted ending.  Of living happily ever after. Yes. Yes. Give me a fairy tale existence, please. So far, so good. I’m thrilled to death. Living it. What about the rest of you?  --Jim

Yes. Yes. What about the rest of you? Do you really care?

Yes, I hope it's a thrilling experience...after the death, of course.  I'll be floating!

Maybe you'll only be hovering, Ruth. Not floating. There's a difference. --Jim

Since I am new.....(and since you asked).....I don't know if we are allowed to talk about Jesus and our faith.   I personally know without a shadow of a doubt that there is an afterlife, and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is the only way to go to Heaven when our earthly body dies.  I am thankful for the physical life I have lived, but THRILLED that my spirit (which will someday be joined with my then deathless body) will live forever with Jesus in Heaven, along with everyone who has accepted Jesus.

If Andy was still hanging about, He'd be telling you that he agrees with you 100 %,  stampnhart. Since he's not, I'll tell you that I do too.

Certainly you are allowed to talk about your faith but please acknowledge  that people of other faiths are members too and their faith is just as certain to them as yours is to you.

It's also all right to not have a faith. And not meet the usual criteria espoused by Christians and other religious orders. And still qualify for an idyllic and pleasant afterlife. By virtue of automatic and unrestricted forgiveness. For everyone. Even so-called despicable and blasphemous non-believers.  That's my opinion. Take it or leave it. --Jim

When Pope Francis says that “God is the one who says who goes to heaven,” he resists placing himself above God or making an idol of our human rules and limited understanding of God. He chooses to act on what he knows of God rather than to limit God by conjecture about the afterlife.

My mom used to repeat, "...those who are last will be first..."

I love those words.  That's why I always wonder who we really are inside, when push comes to shove.  The ultimate test of our true selves.

I've met some folks who can be intolerable, incorrigible, but those are the same folks willing to give up themselves for others without expecting praise.

I surmise that it’s a reasonable bet. That even atheists are granted an idyllic afterlife. Everyone. Absolutely everyone.  This was even occurring long before the birth of Christianity. It’s part of the natural life cycle. With or without a belief in a god. Maybe it comes in form of reincarnation As another physical being. Or maybe it’s a transition to a non-physical spirit. I’ll take it in whatever form. But I’d prefer the spirit. --Jim

Could be. That spirits live in a completely non-physical dimension. Designed to encourage thought. Without distractions. Of the material world. No possessions. No rat races. No monetary wealth. Everyone on an equal level. We are allowed to exchange ideas. Of spiritual nature.  We can’t rob or kill our fellow spirits. We become avid listeners. To each other. We absorb knowledge. We are free from physical disease. Yes. Yes. We are spiritual.  We compare. What it was like to wage wars. In our previous physical life. I, for one, will choose to remain a spirit. Forever. Others have the opportunity to return to physical life. Yes. A true and real choice. Between Heaven and Hell. Turns out. Life is what one chooses to make of it. --Jim

How about crossing and never going into the light?

I've heard that happens and those are the ghosts, not in peace.

They stay here just messing around...I wonder what that's like.

I don't know....but I do believe there can be a connection to the those who've passed before us sometimes.

I know someone who said she had a dream some months after her sister was murdered.  She was very upset during that time after her sister's passing and hated God.  Blamed God for allowing that to happen to her little sister, even though her sister was in bad paths which led to her murder.   Funny how we still blame God...Anyway....back to the story....

Well, her sister came to visit her in a dream and they went on a long train ride.  In this ride, they talked and enjoyed each other's company again.  Finally, the ride stopped and her sister got off.  She told her she was not allowed to follow her at this exit.  She told her, "...it's not like you think.  God is loving.  Don't be mad at him.  Don't blame him.  It's very different than what you think....." and that was the end of the dream.

I hear that the gods are dead...

Free at last!

Welcome to Eve's womb.

Come on in. Mi casa es su casa.

Peaceful. Nice. Warm. Cozy. Tranquil. Chez Eve.

With lots of room.

For every one.

Why can't we simply accept that there are different beliefs? Why put down what another believes and simply grow in our own faith?

My post was a thought, perhaps a wish, I wanted to share. Me?
On the subject of an afterlife I am going to defer to the Pope.

It’s important to recognize. That when I post in Musings. It usually reflects. What I personally believe. About lots of things. That’s all I’m doing. I am NOT declaring that’s the way the rest of you should think. Instead, make your own specially-tailored choices and decisions. And if they differ from mine. That’s fine. I heartily support. The rest of you being yourselves. Yes, being who you truly are. You don’t have to be like me. My clone. In fact, better not.  I’m not trying to convert you. To my way of thinking. About politics or religion. Or life, in general. I’m not a proselytizer. I’d prefer matriculating. In a world full of tolerance and understanding and camaraderie. Full of many points of view. Yes. Yes. My attitude is to each his own. Bless you, everyone. For helping make the world more diverse.. --Jim
