2 participants from a 6 person 40Hz flashing light trial had  BIG reductions in their overall  PIB uptake which is one way scientist measure how much amyloid plaque is in the brain. For Two people, plaque accumulation REVERSED, by 4.1% for one, and 12.5% for the other. Two people had some plaque accumulation, and two had a lot of accumulation, but the study taught us that light therapy needs to be repeated daily...... actually..... nightly

Just as in healthy humans, the REM sleep wave frequency of 40 Hz,(Gamma) activates glial cells to take out the amyloid plaque garbage each night, AD patients need to have light energy stimulate the plaque clearing each night as well.

The issue with the study was that they didn't control how long people looked at the light,. Since one person spent only 10 minutes looking directly at the light, and another and spent 60 minutes, that difference needed to be taken into account. Scientists also didn't measure the results post-treatment at the same amount of time after treatment, Times range from 1.1 weeks to 13.8 weeks. 13.8 weeks, that's 96 nights for plaque to re-accumulate vs just 8. No wonder there were differences.

The average time duration of the light therapy sessions was 61.5 ± 4.8 minutes per session, during which the patients looked directly at the light source for 39.3 ± 21.5 minutes per session (range: 10-65 minutes).

The testers measures how long the participants looked directly at the light, but they didn't include that as a factor in their results.

" The patients were also asked to look directly into the light source for a minimum of 5 minutes during every session. Patients and caregivers were provided with a stopwatch and instructed to record the total time duration of each light session and the time spent looking directly at the light source."

When plaque build up is:

reversed for 2 participants (-4.1 and -12.5 percent ),

slow for 2 people (at 5.4 and 4.1)

and rapid (16.5 and 10.6) for 2 participants.

Something clearly worked for those 2 people.

Again the problem is, ( we thing, that progression gets faster over time, so comparing someone with mci to someone in stage 3, its comparing apples and oranges.

P.S.

This is why a trial that reports no significant difference, actually helped two people and what prompts them to do a bigger trial, better planned. So the next one helped all 5, another helped all 10.

Now Vielight has a trial for 228 people. Do you want to be one of them?

you can search www.clinicaltrials.org for a light therapy trial and/or use google ebay or amazon to find a 40Hz light, a headset, or go full out with an AudioVisual Entrainment Device.
