Just Joe

I was sittin'  here thinkin'  about our kids
Just the other day
That Jesus -He's so different from the rest
But in a very special way

And I wondered why God would ever pick me
To fit into His plans
If I'd been Him,  I'd have chosen better
Than a man who works with his hands

I was sittin'  here thinkin'  about our kids
How did we get so blessed ?
To have such a family - it swells the heart
That beats within my chest

And I live in the bestest household
That any man ever had
But the greatest thrill was when little Jesus
First called me His dad

Now I understand that God's His Father
I can see it in His eyes
But then when He tells me we are all adopted -
     - How did He get so wise ?

And He may be first born, but all of our kids
     Will always bring us joy
So even if I'm not His real life father
He will always be my boy

I was sittin'  here thinkin'  about our kids
So many in our home
There's James, Joseph junior , Simon and Jude
Their sisters, and Sar Shalom

Hi, Chris, I can imagine this set to music and I love it. Have you recorded any of your poems to music? There is a way to upload them to you tube privately. Just wondering.

Chris,  I agree with Nadine.  Would love to hear this with music.  Can we possibly be blessed to see a YouTube video of you singing or at least hear your voice to these wonderful words?

Thank you both for the high praise. Yes, it is a song, as are most of my writings. Even the ones that never become songs always start in my mind as a song. Life is a song.

As for the other idea, I am looking into what I need for recording somewhat better than I can now, so I'll let you know what develops.
