Spirited from birth

Begged Dad to enlist in WAVES

He said, "Too little."

Saddle shoes and malts

Boys from Frackville came to dance

Jitterbug's bright horns.

His dear Mother said

"Don't marry that Irish girl!"

Did it anyway.

Greece, Hong Kong, New York

Arizona and PA

World travelers

Life of the party

Glamorous, gregarious

Music fills her world

Watergate Cake sweet

Peanut Butter Buster rich

Christmas Butterhorns

Seamstress's talent

For crafting garments from rags

And mending our hearts

Patient listener

Devoid of piercing judgment

Gentle counselor

Keeper of secrets

Tranquility's guardian

Family's keel

Party's First Lady

Picnic's Madame President

Holidays' Grande Dame

Memory is clipped

But beach, white zin and music

Compel her delight

Still knows her family

Hope for "pleasant confusion"

Odds are stacked against

As long as she can

We'll uncork Beringer, play

Stevie Wonder's soul

Belting each lyric

Incomparable classic

Knows most every word

"My Cherie Amour..

Lovely as a summer day..."

"My Cherie Amour...

Distant as the Milky Way..."

Carol, hymn, not dirge

Though it will draw her

It may never possess her

For she lives in us

 Hinterland will not

Unravel dense tapestry

That is her lifetime
