I found this article on a lay person's health site.  It struck a bell with me because it mentioned some of my early symptoms, which I rarely see on medical or Alzheimer's sites.

Do you recognize any of these symptoms?  This may answer some questions you might be having.

11 Early Signs of Dementia

Unusual Symptoms

Dementia does more than rob people of their memories — research continues to show that this complicated condition is marked by a number of symptoms, especially at the onset. But they’re not always easy to recognize: From frequent falling to failing to recognize sarcasm, some of dementia’s early warning signs are subtle.

How can you know if you or a loved one is showing signs of Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia? Any change that is different from a person’s usual behavior or abilities could be a cause for concern, explains neuropsychologist Katherine Rankin, PhD, who conducts research at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center in San Francisco. Take a look at some of the earliest signs of dementia — you may be surprised.

Great article IRIS, I do not see myself in most of those. The two I do see the loss of knowledge  and  speaking. Thanks for sharing

from article:

inability to get sarcasm

falling frequently

disregard for law (shoplifting,  and ?)

staring or fixed eye movement (referred to as Reduced Gaze)

eating objects  - no recognition of object's purpose

losing knowledge (of what an object is or does, word loss)

losing empathy (not being able to read social cues)

losing embarrassment awareness

compulsive, ritualistic behaviors (somewhat like hoarding, buying more than you need)

difficulty with money/financial concepts

difficulty speaking

This is a slide show...took me 15 minutes to figure out where "the story was". Ha! Hint BLUE BUTTON and ARROWS

My 3 year old grand son was first to say out loud - "Gamma runs funny!" The difference between my movements and others was very pronounced to the child. I also had a period of a year or more where I swore a lot, and not words relevant to what I was feeling or doing. I even said to my Mother, "I started swearing and can't stop!"

I pocketed something at a garage sale almost against my will, then returned it a few days later in shame. Put it in an envelop and taped it to their door with a note saying "I'm sorry - don't know what came over me."

Confounded when driving in any amount of traffic.

Hours spent trying to write a good sentence in novel I had started.

THINGS OUT OF CHARACTER as signs of warning something is off.
