I was in my 30's when I wrote this. Guess who's getting to be the old man now ?
1st. John 3:16
It was an old man in an old car Got in front of me today And he was goin' slow So wouldn't you know He got right in my way
Well, I said some things I shouldn't have said But if the truth be told I was angry with him - just because he was old
It was an old man in an old coat Down at the grocery store And he was reachin' for somethin' On the very top shelf But he couldn't stretch no more
So I could have walked over to give him a hand Or to let him know I care Instead, I turned my back - as if he wasn't there
He might be somebody's father He's surely somebody's son And who am I to ask him why His feet no longer run ?
In days gone by - he could surely fly Probably faster than me And when I'm as old as he is I wonder how swift I'll be ?
It was an old man with an old book Sittin' down on a bench of stone And he was using his fingers To follow the lines As he sat there all alone
Well, the day wore on and he fell asleep So when I came on the scene I saw his finger marking his place - it was 1st. John 3 : 16

I try to learn something significant. About a stranger. In the first 10 minutes of our meeting. Out of curiosity. But also so he/she no longer qualifies as a total stranger. Sometimes, one can learn. Without even speaking. Observation does the trick. Doesn't it? --Jim

Chris,
Thank you for sharing your gift. Each one touching, enlightening in it's own way. Keep them coming.

My mom, soon to be 90, has been having deja vu very frequently the last few weeks, particularly when we’re driving and she sees people or cars she’s “seen” yesterday or when watching tv, even live tv. She has frequent utis but she’s had them for the last few years. I don’t know if the utis are responsible for the deja vu but she’s on an antibiotic now and still has deja vu. Is there anything that can be done to relieve these sensations of having seen or heard things before?

Beautiful, Chris.
But, what if we believe, but prefer to perish?
Just wondering. I wonder if we reincarnate?? If I have, this is my last trip, last chapter!
kc2955, I don't know anything about uti's, but I've read more info. on it on the caregiver's forum. Deja vu? I really don't know what you can do. Just listen, I guess. If it's nothing that's scaring her, just let her be, I guess....???....don't know.

This part reminds me of when I was shopping in Walmart. But, me, the old haggard, was the snippy one at a young girl who kept cutting in front of me. I felt like kicking her ankles out of my way. Teach her a lesson about hard life. Time is money! You young piece of "bleep bleep bleep"
Anyway, time to get my zzzz's. After a few more take home work gets completed, first, though.
