I'm in southern CA. Just a week ago, I bought heavy socks and a long sleeved heavy tee shirt. I sleep with socks on and under a heavy blanket. On Friday, three days ago, we had a 5.3 earthquake. Today, we had a record high temp of 95 degrees F. They say that earthquakes come during a heat wave. But three days ahead of a heat wave? I don't know! Well, it's time to put away my space heaters and long johns and blankets and look for some shorts and sandals. However, being southern CA, it could still turn chilly from the cool ocean air.

Today I was so chilly and I was reading most of the day, so I was bundled under a quilt, but I had to keep moving to keep warm, so I sipped hot tea all day. It was hazy clouds and there were snowflakes even though it was above freezing. It is supposed to go to the high 70s by the end of the week.

Oh my! Earthquakes ! That's sounds really frightening to a mid westerner. We ONLY have to deal with tornadoes!
One year my husband and I were in CA in a motel. The TV was on and they were reporting on small earthquakes. We finished the night sleeping in the car. ha ha

It got chilly again a couple of days ago, with heavy winds, uprooting trees and overturning heavy trucks. I'm back under my heavy blanket and back to my heavy knee socks.
A teenager was struck by lightning at the beach a few years ago. I think he was standing on a balcony. It was a freak accident. We don't have much lightning in So Cal, fortunately.
The days are beautiful now. Nights are cool. I hope this lasts.

It was warm, even hot for several days. People were in shirt sleeves, shorts and flip-flops. Today, May Day, it's back to being chilly, with morning rain and thunder. I'm in long sleeve, long pants, and thinking about turning on the heat. Where are the May flowers? Oh, well! Just wait, Iris. Enjoy the coolness while it lasts, because soon it will be too hot.

90's here. Perhaps will have no spring and go straight into summer on the East Coast?
Nice not to talk about dementia for a change. Thanks for this thread Iris!

Spring has sprung. April's showers sprang forth flowers. A season of growth, regrowth, birth and new beginnings. Mother nature's painting landscapes everywhere. Colors, colors and colors.
I had an ugly hedge taken out. I've planted and am planting. So far Lilly's in shades of pink and orange en masse. Orange poker flowers and a pink knockout rose tree. Portulaca in all colors as a border. One can never have enough flowers.
I brought myself some spring presents. I deserve presents. To lavish myself with flowers! A new birdbath, a colorful metal wind spinner, a wreath for my purple door and new solar torch lights that look like real flames.
I'm happy!!! Looking at flowers makes me happy!!!

Around 70's with high humidity...overcast all day.
Got Morning Glories creeping through cracks. They always grow beautifully, crickets or something starts to consume them, then the Glories dry up.
But they always come back!

I had a photo of the Morning Glories, but it doesn't attach for some reason...oh well.

At the front of my condo I noticed some tiny blue flowers. I read somewhere that blue flowers are rare in nature. Is this true?

Iris, it may depend on where you live. The Alz. Assoc. is the blue forget me not. I have several around me but can't recall the names.

Thanks, Mimi. The flowers I see are not forget me nots, but they both are pretty little flowers.

It's chilly here, again. In the upper 50's and I just bought my yard a bunch of flowers, some tomato and pepper plants, and shrubs! I can't wait to fill up my hanging flower pots on the patio and in the yard. Going to try and get the lavender to grow and keep through the winter. It must be a hard one to grow but they smell so delightful. Hopefully my hydrangeas will bloom this years. My peonies are up and the lilacs have bloomed. Tulips are in bloom and soon it will be the Iris. By the end of the summer the naked ladies will be showing off. lol

Ah... the pots and hanging baskets. I bought a new pot with three layers. My hydrangeas have been very stingy the last 2 years giving me only about 3 flowers all season!

Suns out, lawn has been mowed and the sprinklers are going. I am sitting on my back porch with my little Molly, (dog) enjoying a glass of wine and smelling the fresh cut grass. I am in Oregon. Hugs Zetta

Very, very hot in Iowa. Temps are 20 degrees above normal for May! We have been in the 90s for a couple of weeks. We are getting July weather in May!
