This is trivial but I am sort of getting the hang of this forum thing yet and I was wondering....what's up with the "Active Users" and "Top Authors" list over to the right of the page????

Hi Overwhealmed.
The Active Users are those who are on line. For example, as I type this there is the ALZ symbol that is used for the Peer Volunteers, that's me. If you know on's distinctive sign, you can ID them. Clicking on one will bring up their profile. i clicked on a few and didn't get names.
The Top Authors are those who have posted the most original posts. That is, they have begun a new post. Those who merely add to a post are not counted.
I fail to understand the value of this section. But then, no one asked me.

Re Active Users: It only displays 12 Active Users at the most. I can't believe that for the last couple of months no more than 12 members have been on the board at any one time. So I presume many active users are not acknowledged. (My presumption is that an Active User is someone who is signed in.)
Re Top Authors: This is useless and inaccurate, also. There are many others who post, I believe some more than I, but they are not included. I limit my posts because I'm listed as one of the top posters, which I find chilling.
I and others have requested that changes be made, but to date I've received no response from the administrators.

Thank for your input. Most of the PV's disliked that information and have asked to have it removed. It is inaccurate and serves no purpose.
On the old board we did have a way of keeping track of how many members were on line. Like you, I believe this new system to be inaccurate.
Hang in there everyone.
Changes will be made. I can't tell you how long they will take.
These are still OUR Message Boards. I am happy for us to have a place to come and share our challenges and victories.

The active users have a limit of twelve. i think they start at the top left and when a new user comes on, you get pushed one place. And finally when the 13th person after me logs on, I'm gone.
And I have better things to do that wait to see it happen. I ignore it since with AD, I don't remember the names of the people that go with the logos.
