One of my favorites that I use is a Proverb that I have on a coffee mug: "When the caterpillar thought that the world was over, it became a butterfly".
For me, it's symbolic of what I am going through with my early-stage Alzheimer's and think of it often.

My husband used to be verbally abusive and the other night he was arguing for his guns and the old him was peeking through and he said something hurtful he used to say. It took some tears and some Bible time and his new person attitude to remind me that he was sick when he used to say it, he is still sick and it is not the truth. Then I read your post and see the truth in it....the power is gone
