OT--an Accomplishment!

In December 2016, I made my last payment on my mortgage.  As a New Yorker, I came from a family of apartment dwellers.  No one I knew had a mortgage when I was growing up.  Burning the mortgage was something I heard about only on television.  But now, I can burn my own mortgage.  Yippee!

The good things are, a major expense has been eliminated, except for real estate taxes and HOA dues, I can stay here as long as I am physically able, since I live on the second floor, and I have equity in case I need to move.  The bad thing is, no super to call for repairs--I have to do it all myself.  But in general, I'm happy for paying off my mortgage!

Congratulations!  Getting rid of the BIG debt is freedom.  Lots of options should open up now.  Give yourself a huge pat on the back.

That AWESOME, Iris!   Paying off a mortgage is such a huge accomplishment...and what a relief knowing that you can never lose you home (unless you don't pay taxes).   I'll bet if feel real good have the stress of that lifted.  I think this an awesome share.

Fantastic Iris. I've heard not to literally burn the papers. Now maybe you can find a handy man to call when you just need something little done.

Congratulations Iris, that is fantastic.. We live in a mobile home that we bought outright and it is climbing in value so when we do go to sell it we will make money on it and owe no one.
