Kobe was a great athlete and a great role model for Los Angelinos and the world.  I remember when he joined the Lakers at age 17.  I didn't expect much from him at that young age but he proved me wrong.  I am not even a follower of basketball.  My condolences to his family and to the families of the other loved ones who were lost.

When I first heard about Kobe, this came through my mind.

My neighbor’s daughter had flown in that morning and she said there was dense fog. She could not see anything as the plane flew down in CA. Suddenly a well known park in the area was in view and she felt the plane was quite near ground at that point.
