Has anyone experienced this with their LO on Hospice?  I have a call into Hospice but don't know when I will hear from them.

I go to see my Mom as I do every morning, but I notice instead of her chest rising and falling, her belly is.  It was so weird and her breath sounded really loud (not snoring).

Is this a part of that Cheynne breathing ?

Spoke with Hospice Nurse, she said she noticed my Mom's breathing seemed labored but she thinks its because she is in a lot of pain.

The point of Hospice is no pain right?  They had talked to me last week about morphine and I gave them the go but today for first time they gave it to her and she will continue to get a dose every 8 hours.  They feel my Mom is having so much pain on one side of her body due to mini strokes she had that were detected with an MRA back in July.

Nurse said she will watch the breathing because now that Mom is going to be given morphine and continues to breathe this way, it could be a sign of pre-active dying I believe she called it

I noticed my Mom breathing heavy too just recently. She has dementia and cancer. She is not totally bedridden yet. The caregiver told me her oxygen level was 95 and that is good. I feel for you because I'm going through it too.

My Mom's saturation is at 90.   Told today she is nearing the end, maybe a week or just days.
