I have had this wound vac on me for about a month now and I am tired of it.. It needs to be charged a couple of times a day and slows me down.. I have to settle in my house mostly and it is hard on me not to go doing what I usually do daily.. I can not walk the mile I usually walk because of where the wound is on my body.. I have to go in to the clinic three times a week to get the bandages changed and the wound Vac hooked up to the bandages again.. It boggles my mind to think that I used to do so much around here and have not been able to even vacuum my place for a month.. I have ripped open my wound once because I needed to be off of the vac for a day and then given the choice not to have it back on me for the weekend and what a mess that was.. I pretty much had to start over with the healing.. I hope to never have to have this again because it is a pain in the butt.. I laugh every time I say that because that is where my wound is.. On my butt... Oh and do not ask me to tell you about the fact that if they did not get the bandages right how much noise this thing makes all of the time..

Hugs (((((((Julie)))))))

How much longer do you have to use it?  Hopefully not too much longer.

Julie, I had to google wound VAC (vacuum assisted closure) because it didn't exist when I was practicing medicine.  For some wounds, surgeons were returning to using leeches, because they ate up the dead tissue, without destroying the new, healing tissue.  A wound VAC is better than leeches, eh?

It's good that it's healing.  It won't be long, now, before you're fully healed!

Julie, Yes it should not be much longer.. Iris it is a toss up between the leaches and the wound Vac.. In my book anyway...

None of that sounds comfortable or fun. I would hope by now your healing well and soon will be rid of the vac.

Hang in there.

llee, the last time I had a cyst on my tail bone and had it removed it took three months for it to heal.. These are slow healing wounds..

I am so glad you wrote about this. It takes me a long time to heal wounds, I wonder if it is old age, loss of hormones, or ALZ.

to be in pain for so long is in itself something to recover from. I do hope the skin is sealed soon and you can get back to walking. It is so hard to give it up and then have to build back the endurance but - you are handling this really well.

That is good news, Julie!  Can you take a sitz bath?  That might help with the healing.

I remember some years ago having my 2nd hernia repair. They told me to come back after a week so that the stitches could be removed. When the doctor pulled off all the bulky packing from the surgery site, imagine my shock, ( read that as SHOCK, ) when I discovered there were no stitches ! Just tape . I nearly fell down on the spot . I guess this is progress, but... oh my !
