losing my cyber-support a second time

Last year October 2010 I suddenly lost contact with my cyber support friends when my computer crashed.  I fell into a deep depression.  This year I knew I was losing contact with my cyber support friends.because I was warned about it for several days.  I have not seen lorene, patty cakes, steve_san jose, john 491, clave, and many other patient members whose names I can't remember.  Where is younghope1?

I lost contact with the spouses and partners.  I lost contact with the many caregiver members.  I lost contact with the Musings board.  I lost contact with the Care Consultants.  I lost contact with my fellow chatters.  I lost contact with reviewing older posts, and reminiscing about the members I met in 2009 and 2010.

This is a huge loss for me because I don't have anyone in my life I can talk about dementia and depression with.  This board was my safety net.  No more.  And to lose everybody right before Christmas.  I couldn't even put up my little pre-lit tree this year because the bulb that illuminated everything burned out last year.  I don't know if I have the where-with-all to replace it before Christmas morning.

It's too bad I'm not a drinking woman, because I could then drown my sorrows in alcohol.  But I'm not, so I can't.

I'm going to bed now.  I need some rest.

Iris, We do hear you and are here for you.
Your points are well taken.
Just hang in there until we figure out how things work and the designers of this site start listening to some of the complaints of the people with the disease.
I do hope you have made some plans for tomorrow. Otherwise it's the music of your choice on our home stereo and perhaps a few walks in that beautiful California weather.

Hi, dear Iris.

The Spouse/Partner forum exists.  It was just much farther down the list of forums.  It's been moved now, to the 4th on the list, just under the Caregiver Forum.

The old board contents are going to be available.  They are being "archived" and once that process is finished, a link to the archives will be posted here.

The Care Consultants will be responding to posts on the other forums.  If you especially want to contact them, use "Care Consultants" in the title of your thread.

I know you're anxious and upset, I'm so sorry.  I wish there were more we could do to help you stay calm until this new site is fixed up the way we want it.

(((((hugs)))))

Hi My friend Iris,

I'm so sorry that all of this is happening at this time of year!  I agree that the timing could not be worse.  Those that have signed up may be busy with holidays and that keeps them from the boards.

Iris, i'm so pleased to see how active and responsive you have been.  You are such a vital part of our community family.  I can't imagine it without your imput ever again.

You have spent more time on than I have lately.  I hope that it is getting a little easier for you to maneuver.  I'm still having problems and am unfamiliar with the changes and omissions.

Try to be patient with the rest of us with the disease who are challenged.  We have hope that administration and the developers will addresses our needs and concerns.

I miss some of my old friends also.  I worry about them.  I know Lorene and Steve San Jose have the ability to find us with their experience.  PattyCake only found us because she marked the site as a favorite when she registered.

She would not be able to find us now...unless she improves.    She has a sister in California that may have initially have set it up.  She doesn't travel often to Texas to visit so I don't know when it could be addressed.  I'm hoping her sister will look up this site and realize the change.

We do develop feelings for our online friends.  Like you, Iris...when you were away!    I worried.  When I became a PV I asked the other Peer Volunteers if they knew if you were ok or where you went?  We care about each other and we are going to get through these changes together.
