Has anybody found a resource for financial planning for younger-onset families?  I need to think beyond the medical care for her and plan for my retirement as well. We have SSDI, we will be eligible for Medicare, but when do we start taking Social Security? I am sure there are strategies already thought through since I am not the first person to wonder how this will play out.

Do you have an ElderCare Attorney?  If not you need one - they will help you understand the system.  Also do you have a financial planner?  Get both of them working out a "future" plan for you.  Obviously it will change, but at least you'll have something in place.  eagle

The main web page, www.alz.org, has a good section on Finances.

Yep.  Got the eldercare attorney. Much better than our original attorney. Still hoping to find an equivalent financial planner.
