My 63 yr old husband has been in a nursing home since Aug 2017.  Lately he has developed behavior of him trying to run and because of the way he hunches over and shuffles his feet, he has been falling frequently.  Thursday he fell again causing a subdural hematoma that is slowly leaking.  Neurosurgeon suggested a craniotomy to reduce the pressure but with his advanced dementia the prognosis is poor.  I said no to doing the surgery and we are back at nursing home hoping the bleed will stop on it’s own.

We already had a dnr in place  but I didnt realize how making a no surgery decision would impact me.  Just needed to vent and cry.

Understood.

I invite you to share on the spouse/partner board as well as here. It is more active and the topics may be more helpful for you.
