Anyone have any info on impact of meds used to treat ADHD/ADD on MCI/AD?

Someone I know w/MCI was recently prescribed meds for ADHD/ADD and I'm noticing an increase in cognitive decline. Could this possibly be caused by the aforementioned meds? She's also on Aricept.

I think anything is possible when it comes to meds as they all effect us differently. It could also be a combination of meds that are creating the issue. The person I hope is being monitored by some one who can keep track of the changes and pointed out to the doctor.

I have no idea on the research, but I'll add our experience. When DH was diagnosed with MCI everyone kept saying it was due to depression. He was also diagnosed with ADD after the neuropsych testing (super low attention scores). He was given generic ritalin. It really helped his concentration at that point in time. I could tell a difference between when he had taken  it and when he forgot.

After a few years it didn't have the same effect.

I haven't found any research regarding interaction between the two classes of drugs and I doubt any practitioner can answer that question.

In my case, it is as if my lifelong battle with ADHD ended when I was diagnosed with MCI/AD.  WTH? I did stop the Alz drugs on my own so I'm confident the neurologist will not be a happy camper. Whatever.
