Ever notice how many of the members here have a picture of a cat as their avatar? Maybe an area of future research- cat dander as the ultimate cause of Alzheimer's.

I've heard cats can eat humans too....I bet Cookie would do that to me, if I fall dead or something and she has nuttin to eat.  Smart cat.  I leave her some salsa.

Ruth - Homemade salsa?

I miss my dog. The wife and I are spending the weekend in Florence Or in a beachside hotel. He has been here with us before, and when we get home and he smells the ocean, we are in trouble.

Ruth- if something happened to me and my wife that the cats were left to fend for themselves, I would be glad to have them eat me if that was the only food around. I would be honored to be transformed as food into one of these dear animals graceful bodies. Dogs are OK. I've owned several. I just find dogs too needy and eager for attention. They will love anyone with a pat on the head or a treat in hand. Cats are just a bit more discriminating. If a cat likes you it is like a marriage. They have carefully judged you to be acceptable, even though you have no tail to speak of, and very poor fur quality. There is a bond there that they are sharing with no one else. You are their person, and they are your cat. I'm just startled by how many Cat avatars their are in this group.

I don't think I've ever noticed any cat avatars, but then, I don't usually notice eye colors, or other personal details about people.

But, because of your post, I did notice that you do NOT have a cat avatar, Marcus.

You know what ? In spite of the fact that I have had a guitar for my avatar since I first joined Alzconnected.org, I will change my avatar to a cat !

Markus - You made a great case for why you like cats better, but I cant change. I like needy dogs. Plus, my dog is a great watch dog and fun to play rough with.

Thats tooooo funny Chris.

Used to be, I had a closed mind. When it came to cats.  And I wasn’t all that keen on dogs, either. But when getting married to dear Jeanne. I agreed to accept her two dogs – a blind cocker spaniel and a protective German shepherd. The bargain also included Jeanne’s 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.  It was the most wonderful decision of my life. A blessed marriage of 38 years. A blessed ready-made family.  Including our blessed pets.  Early on, our daughter brought home a stray cat. I declared, no, no. We had enough pets. No need to expand into a cat menagerie. I was soon overruled. By everyone. Yes, another blessing. I fell in love with cats.  Within a few years. We were living with up to five cats in our household. Other strays that I fetched and brought in. No longer can I live without a cat or two or three. The latest one being Marcello. Before him, it was Loverboy. Also, we’ve had  a long line of pet dogs. Though I don’t have one now.  I can live without a dog.  Though I take our neighbors’ dogs for walks. All the time. I like dogs. But I don’t love them as much as cats. I can’t imagine ever living without a cat. We need each other. For the sake of survival and true love. --Jim

How about chinchillas? Does anyone like chinchillas? I fell in love with chinchillas when I saw them at a county fair. So cute and soft. The babies are very cute.  I want one.

I may have been a cat in a previous life. And I'm climbing the evolutionary ladder to higher forms of life. On my way to the fifth dimension. That may be my next stop. I'm in the fourth dimension now. I see the fifth just beyond the horizon. --Jim

Ruth, I don't want to be called out for trying to sell anything, but I did find this pic, and it says you can buy it from that big company that starts with an A, and ends with mazon.com.

Rocky the Chinchilla! What a cute fella...I would add a bit of longer fur around the head for a serious rock n’ roll look

Rock on, Ruth ! It stands to reason that a cat would be the purrrrfect lead guitarist, since they have built in retractable picks on their paws. And Boston is such good old school Rock & Roll !!

LoL.   I am a cat person and believe my dementia has affected my cat. Perhaps she has sensed my depression, fears, anxiety, etc.

That Youtube cat video was a hoot especially with the perfectly timed musical effects!  It did bring bak to mind tho a bad experience i had when i tried to step between a cat fight! I will NEVER DO that again! I should hav just kicked both cats so they would run off, but i tried to reach down to pik one up and did endup breaking up the fight, but i ended up being bitten in 8 spots on my leg.  hat actually ended up causimg me two surgeries bcuz of cat virus (not rabies!).

Re: Epic cat fight. Seemed like the birds were in cahoots with the black cat. Very strange!  They even followed the cats when they ran off!

Oh... I’m guessing that Crushed hasn’t read this thread. He called me “Pussycatwhipped” once after I said that I felt bad after yelling at my cat when I was particularly stressed. Truth is... that cat is my touchstone. And he’s DH’s touchstone too. He makes our lives better- bless his furry little face!
