i am having repeat of what hospitalized me last spring. now hospitals full and i doubt i would go back anyway.

so I told the doctor (over phone visit) I was all set to do liquid diet and bed rest on my own. She calls this evening to check how its going. I have the antibiotics, the rash from the antibiotics, a bunch of pillows, my TV. I did have an hour last evening of feeling like it was urgent i eat something more than a bite of yoghurt so I did. Probably a mistake.

today is rough, it is hour by hour. whatever happens is good. I'm ready to continue on or leave the world.

just wanted to say how special it was to have found friends here years back and how grateful I am to have been coached through those iffy first 2 years daily.

I wish you all the best and hope you remember that if your environment is easy to navigate, the illness is not such a big deal. The biggest problem I've found with this illness is the disgust people have for it and for those who have it. "Demented" does not describe me, or my dad, or my grandmother. Find your own way and make it pleasant.

you can do this, keep the love and courage alive

(((Dear Alz))))

I am sorry you are not feeling well. You are a very strong person and you take good care of yourself. You will pull through this just continue to get all the rest you can and let your partner help you when ever he can.  Please don't feel that people get disgusted with people that have dementia a lot of them don't understand and are not sure how to help. Please reach out for the help you need, it will be there. Hugs Zetta

Alz+, you have been and still are a breath of fresh air!  Your wisdom and encouraging words are well apprciated.  I want you to recuperate and return when you feel better.

Bowel rest can be a step in the right direction.  This means a period of several hours, 4-8 or more, with no food or drink.  This can be followed by sips of clear liquids for more hours, then advancing the diet slowly as tolerated.  The attending doctor should advise on the diet and the rapidity of advancement.  Avoid known triggers such as milk, greasy or spicy foods and drinks.  Feel better soon!

was able to walk yesterday and pain level way down.

doctor by cell phone is challenge - i made list of what to ask then never asked one question on list.  Habib was big support, so grateful. On the mend.

Thanks Iris for tips. Online medical sites have conflicting opinions but hospital doctor gave me exit plan, was in drawer bedside table.

love and courage

I'm so glad to know you are on the mend.  Our GI tract is closely connected with our autonomic nervous system, so many seemingly minor external issues can cause our bowels to become upset.  Keep feeling better!
