HBO, in connection with the Alzheimers Association, put together a great series called The Alzheimer's Project. I watched it when my father was first diagnosed.
Now that his disease has advanced and he is living in a care facility, I can see how truthful they were with the footage they shot for the project. I highly recommend it.

Healthygal, thanks for letting me know this is still available. Jim & I watched some of it together (just Maria Shriver's story, I think), well before he developed VaD. He was so depressed by it that I watched most of it alone.
I probably should see it again, in light of what I'm dealing with now.

Thank you for posting this information. I spent a good deal of yesterday watching these films and it was a huge help to help heal over the loss of my grandmother, dealing with Dad and what's coming, as well as my own fears of being EO myself.
I highly recommend all the films for anyone who is dealing with AD!

You can view HBO's "The Alzheimer's Project" for free online. Here is the link:

Then perhaps you can watch our own Peer Volunteer, Mimi S in her PBS video:

This is a fantastic resource. There's a lot more to the project than just the three documentaries. There are some 20 supplementary videos, for example, on all the advances that are being made in developing treatments and diagnostics, and understanding the underlying pathologies.
