Starting today with a laugh. My wife has been a little frustrated with me losing stuff. She asked me where the new cookbook was that I bought and if I had lost it. I said no it's not lost I just "repositioned it to a new location"

I own so many things but just don’t
know where they are. That is a huge problem with having this disease. I think
that may be why I make a mess of the house and not put things away. As I will never
find them.

I am leaving for my cruise in a few days and I just had to go out and purchase two new watches, because my old watches are "repositioned in a new location." I had just gotten my dress watch from the jeweler for getting a new battery and it was last in my pocketbook. I don't even remember taking it out of my pocketbook. I took my everyday watch off my wrist and it has vanished. I am supposed to place everything where they belong, not lay them down randomly. I have been searching for them for days, and I still can't find them.

In the short time since I posted above, I found one of my watches! It was in my top drawer, where I usually place it, but it was hidden beneath some clothing, even though I had checked many times. Now, I'll see if my dress watch shows up.
I'm glad I had the habit of placing my watch in its spot, even though I don't remember doing it.

Jim, I love that, "repositioned to a new location."
Michael, I have to keep bills and certain items within line of vision or I will forget them! The saying, "out of sight, out of mind" applies to us x a thousand. Especially, when an item is right under your nose but out of your visual field because your brain is not making the connection to your eyes and line of sight. My organizational skills are not what they used to be but I try to place things in the same place so they are easier to locate. Being organized used to be easy for me because I grew up in a clutter free home where everything had it's place.
Today trying to get organized is such a challenge and my systems seem to be failing.
Iris, I hope you find your dress watch before you leave for your cruise. Needless to say, I hope you have the time of your life and a most enjoyable experience on the cruise. I so love the adventuresome side of your nature. Pioneer away!

It seems that I too am "repositioning things to a new location" more and more. As a result, I spend an inordinate amount of time looking for the "new location." The other day I was looking for some of my small garden tools so I could weed one of my flower gardens. Obviously, I could not find the tool I was looking for so I decided to just pull up the weeds by hand. To my surprise, I found the tool in the weeds where I had stopped weeding a few weeks ago!
Sometimes you just have to laugh at your "repositioning" locations!
God bless,

Paul,
I've done the same thing with the small garden tools!

I love these personal stories.
Anyone else try to prevent losing stuff ahead of time by thinking "I am going to put this HERE, so I can find it again" and make associations and visual study the place and so on to make SURE you can find it again?
doesn't work.
I am still looking for my perfect white rock and recall doing a bunch of associations at the moment to trigger finding it again. It is size of tennis ball.
I wonder if Iris found her watch? Finding a tool "by accident" is excellent!
I am missing a few things lately that I am thinking Keeper broke and disposed of or relocated on my behalf and now he forgot, but not ever sure.
missing stuff drives me nuts, hope the cookbook turns up some place fabulous!

Yes, I did find my dress watch. It happened to be in my purse, where I saw it last. I don't know how many times I searched in my purse, but each time, I apparently overlooked it!
Why is it that we lose only important things, and not unimportant things?

Iris, glad you found your dress watch!
I hate when that happens...looking in the same place and days later finding what I was looking for in the same place where I was looking all along!

I found something else I had been looking for. I received two $5 bills as change and I thought I put them in my pocket, then I couldn't find them. I thought they may have dropped from my pocket. I've been looking for them for a week. But today I found them in the place where I usually keep my $20 bills.
Also, I had been looking for my cats' laser pointer. I thought the kennel might still have it. I found the laser pointer in the bag with the cats' comb and brush. I had not unpacked that bag yet.
I am developing a theory about losing things that pertains to me. I am finding things where I usually put things. But for some reason I don't see them right away. My subconscious seems to remember that some locations are resting places for items. I'll have to be happy with that.

Thank you, Iris, for reminding me I had bought a laser pointer toy for my new kittens and they loved it. All the catnip mice and other toys have been carfied off, but I know where I left the pointer hanging.

Finding money is always a great feeling, isn't it?
I cut up celery and carrots and put them in sandwich baggies. Its easy to grab and ready for a snack. Then I put all of the baggies into a large ziplock bag for storage in the frig. This system has been working well.....until today that is. Apparently DH wanted carrots & celery for a quick snack and he took the large bag with all of them in it. And we can't find it. I'm certain it will turn up, its just celery & carrots. He gets upset when he does these things, but a hug & reassuring hug help him along.

finding money is indeed an amazing feeling and even if you're not alzh. I remember this has happened to me since I've been younger and it happened a few times. I remember once I've found $50 I have forgotten about, oh well, that was pure satisfaction like I won a lottery or something.
