I have made the arrangements for the Celebration of Life for DH. AND his brother helped me make the timeline. Now DH's brother throws in a new possibility - the transportation and the timeline would be easier. But we would have to change the arrangements and make new notifications ($260) AND with the current arrangements, DH would get free interment (he was a veteran). The new possibility would cost at least $250 and there would be no veterans plaque. BUT the columbarium is more convenient for brother or adult children or grandchildren to visit as opposed to the columbarium at the veterans cemetery.
I am going to remain calm and ask for help in making new arrangements if brother or adult children want the new possibility.

I'm surprised you will not get a veteran's plaque. My FIL got one even though he was buried in a private cemetery. Is it because the new columbarium does not allow it on its structure? Look at it to see what other veterans have done to signify their service.
Whatever you decide, good luck and best wishes for a dignified and lovely Celebration of Life for your dear husband.

Update: DHs brother and his wife have decided against the new possibility, so no new notifications. I don't have to make new arrangements!
