The is a singing duo, the Mona Lisa Twins, actual real-life twins, born in Austria but now pop singers in the UK. They are still very young---only turned 26 this June---but have made a name for themselves with their covers of 60's hit songs (Beatles, Hollies, Stones, etc.) and their exquisite harmonies. Lately they have been performing their own original music.
One of their first original songs came after their beloved grandmother succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer's. It is called "The Wide, Wide Land," and it combines a beautiful melody and the sisters' great harmony with the most touching recounting of the effects of Alzheimer's that I've ever heard in a song.
To find it, just input The Wide, Wide Land in your browser, then click on Videos when the results come up. The first entry is the song's official video.
I have no commercial interest in this song other than wanting to mention it to you all here. The twins don't know I exist and never will, but it would be a shame if this hauntingly beautiful song were not given more exposure, and in that process help create greater awareness of just how loved ones might remember the decline of a dear relative who suffered from Alzheimer's.

I don't come to this board often (usually Spouse/Partner one), so have only just seen this. What a beautiful song! Both music and lyrics. I especially like the lines about talking with a twinkle in her eye and not minding that other people don't understand her. So much like my DH.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Actually, they are very, very good. Surprised I have not heard them before; they are good enough to be on the national scene and screen . . . . if they have been on national TV, I have somehow missed them. Thank you for the reference.
