I have a recent MCI diagnosis and am learning to cope with this in my life. I would like to find an experienced psychologist to talk with. I live in the San Francisco East Bay.

Are there any suggestions about how to find a qualified/experienced psychologist for MCI?

My neurologist said they do not have any referrals. I plan to talk to my MD but also want to ask for suggestions here.

Welcome, Linda.  There's good news and bad news about an MCI diagnosis.  For some people, they may revert to normal, or at least not worsen.  For others, they will progress to full dementia.  There is no way to predict, you just have to wait and see.  This may sound discouraging for some, but there is room for action.

Read what you can about brain health.  Follow Best Practices.  Get your legal and financial affairs in order.

You asked about a psychologist.  I'm sorry, I cannot help you there.  This is because I had bad experiences with psychologists and counselors.  They did not want to acknowledge that I was fearing having Alzheimer's Disease, I don't know why.  Other members said that they had good experiences.  I wish you good luck in this area.

If you have specific questions, I and others will try to answer.
