It has been 1 year since my Doctor has gotten me off Strattera and since then, I am able to make strides in dealing with my Grief from Granny's death in 1998.
Even though I suffered several episodes of acting out during the 2011 Mardi Gras Holidays, my lease on life has really changed for the better and I am learning better ways to cope.
It was at the Louisiana meeting of AAIDD that during a presentation on community supports for those with intellectual disabilities and the facilitator offered a since of validation that "individuals who decide to act out do not need behavior plans."
However; that idea is not so simple because while attending a Transistion roundtable in Thibodaux, this one Mother from Hahnville shared with the panel about how her son was being harrassed for wanting to commit suicide after his Grandpa died.
After that episode I experienced last Mardi Gras season, I have learned to become much stronger and know that it is a new dawn for me.
