sveti, I am so very sorry for the struggles you and he face. I will tell you that my Mom is recovering from pneumonia. She was hospitalized on October 1. We truly thought it was the end. On a few occasions, she spoke the names of family members who have passed on, names she has not even known in a very long time. We had prepared ourselves for what appeared to be an inevitable outcome. But, life being what it is, here we are, two months later, and Mom has healed from the pneumonia. Any illness can knock the wind from the sails of our loved ones. We're still on a roller coaster as far as good days and bad with her eating, and she is now wheelchair bound, but she does not appear to feel bad. Oddly enough, all of the issues that led to her taking Seroquel have vanished and she has been weaned from it. But it has taken two months just to come this far back. It doesn't happen quickly.

It must be taking every ounce of strength you have to carry through these days. I hope that you have contacted hospice. Whether or not it is his time, hospice can offer you support and assistance. You need that for yourself as well as for him. I'll say it again... you need that for yourself as well as for him.

Going through these things with my Mom is hard enough. I cannot imagine the toll it takes on you. Please call on any and every resource you have available to help you through. And know that you have prayers from all over the country following you both.

Sveti, please call Hospice. We waited too late on our mom and she (and we) suffered needlessly. She only had hospice at home 5 days, then got violent and was transported to Tranquility House, where she went on home 10 days later. They were wonderful to her and to us. they will be to you also. Holding up a star for you and LO.

We are hanging in there. He is not eating much lateley, but strangley enough he looks better today. Only God know and I trust that he will do the right thing. He striped all of his clothes off last night and informed that he was going to swim in the lake. He fell asleep after that (for the first in about two weeks)and slept pretty much all night.
I did get out of the house today, I went to church to see my grand-daughter perform in the Christmas Musical.

I left my husband tonight also to watch my MS daughter perform in a Christmas choir concert. Oh, it was so worth it (he enjoyed watching Funniest Home Videos much more than he would have enjoyed the concert.) I hope you got as much renewal from your outing as I did.

I'm following your progress and are keeping you in my prayers. Sure glad the Lord knows who "Sveti" is since I mention you by name. Wink

sveti, Hang in there, I know pneumonia is such a hard thing for even healthy people to get thru, I hope he's resting better and getting well. But what ever his journey at this time is destined to be, may it will be peaceful.

I am glad to hear you were able to go to your DGD's Christmas Musical. I hope you enjoyed.

However, he still talks about joining his parents and his dead brothers. Only God knows what is going on and I trust that he will do the right thing.

VA has now diagnosed him with Lewey Body Dementia??? I'm trying to find out about that... They promise that med changes will work wonders...

I'll give you a call - or you call me??

sevti, Just checking on how everything is going? You haven't been around for a couple of days so we get worried.

I hope the delusions are getting under control. I know how bad they can be when they are sick. Having experienced my FIL delusions, I can say from experience when my Dh was so sick the delusion issues were far worse! Hopefully they have a handle on the pneumonia. Which will go a long way to helping the delusions slow down to (normal Frowner dementia delusions) and not be compounded as well as let him get more rest. Hope things are going better..........

They do??? If he's been on an antipsychotic, LBD patients can be extremely sensitive to those and not react at all well. Is taking him off an antipsychotic the med change they're talking about?

Hello everyone,
Not much new here. Saw GP yesterday and he tells me that pheumonia is getting better, but hellucinations are not. Saw the new neurologist today (turns out that he knows the one we went to, former partner) not much hope there either. He increasaed his seraquel and told me if that does not work to call him and he will look for something different. Well, I gave him the larger dose tonight and it's not working. Neurologist looked at me after he checked DH and asked me if I had DNR and he told me if I did not I should get one soon. Appetime is still very poor and skin color does not look good. I am trying very hard to hang in there, but at times I ask God how much more does he want me to handle. I pray that I get an answer soon. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Annetta,
I am too tired tonight but I will try to call you tomorrow evening. I'll try to call you around seven o'clock your time.

Sending many gentle hugs...
