I agree that I'd like to see this person join in the discussion with her personal experience with dementia.
However, this is a solicitation to a commercial site which is prohibited on these boards. It is especially vexing when the advertisement is the first and only post.
Correction: This is the second post for the same commercial site.

Interesting site/blog and sponsor I gained more by reading than from viewing the video. http://goo.gl/IcrbM
The card is an interesting way to jot down things to say to LO. It is also an interesting marketing tool to build an address base,
Lori La Bey has put a lot of work into her blog. I am looking forward to seeing her contributions to discussions on this forum.
FWI quote: from her site: Lori runs Seniors Lifestyle Trends, a Minnesota based company. Lori is well known for her extensive work with seniors. She works with and speaks to corporations, organizations and groups of all sizes, regarding the largest demographic market

I am so sorry you took this as a solicitation that was not my intent. I am new to this site and thought the information would go to caregivers and those with the disease and those are not the people that hire me. My videos on youtube, blog, resource website and radio show are just full of good information for those in the trenches with this disease.
I am one of you. My Mother has lived with memory problems for 30 years. She is now in her end stages. The journey has taught me so much that I have changed careers to help others remove their fear and hopefully much of that comes with this disease.
This is not about making money. This is not even an option for me to do, as crazy as that may sound. I truly believe I was born to share the lessons learned from my Mother's journey.
I now view the disease as a huge gift to me. I am able to live my life and connect with others on a level I didn't know existed. I am able to find such great value in little things I took for granted.
Again so sorry you took offense. In the future I can edit the "pitch" off the video. I would delete and redo but I don't know how to delete my comment.
One last question I see my blog and site are listed as my signature How do I change that? I signed up long ago. I would be glad to just put my name Lori La Bey

Hello A.S. I personally have a disagreement with the prohibition about a company discussing commercially about a product. But that is how the Alzheimer's Association has set up this discussion board.
If I were you and looking to do a do over<grin>. I would set up a new Gmail account on Google. I would re-join using a new screen name and and email/Gmail separate from your business URL. register as an individual not a company. I would go to the profile link and edit your signature to be non-commercial.
I don't know how the admin would react to this suggestion.
-- I see no reason to edit your videos or change any on you blogs etc.
As a former sales person I believe a essential function of salespeople in general is the sharing of information. They have more exposure to the world than the average consumer. It took a long thread to educate me why the forum uses anonymous screen names. My views are very parochial, I live in a area surrounded by major medical centers and universities. But I am isolated and depend on forums such as this one to help me as a carer and to find resources.
I am delighted to have found you, your site and your blog.
regards Dave aka DLMifm

Hi, Lori.
To change your "signature", click on your userID in any of your posts on this thread. A drop-down menu appears. Select "View AlzheimersSpeaks' Public Profile". Click on "View/Edit Complete Profile" in the upper right-hand corner of the box that appears. Scroll down to "Signature" and delete the two websites.
You can also change your userID in the "Public Profile Fields" just above the "Signature" block.
Click on "Submit" when you're done.

Lori, I appreciate your thoughtful response to my concerns, and I am very sorry to hear that you and your mother share this journey with us.
Unfortunately, there are people who come to these boards to advertise products or services, not all of which are legitimate or safe. So someone signing on for the first time with an unsolicited link to a commercial site, and with no introduction about themselves or their loved one, raises a red flag for many of us.
And I for one NEVER click on a link in one of these dot-com posts. I Google the name or product, or as in your case, typed your website into my browser and went directly there. It appeared to be selling products and services, in violations of the alz.org guidelines:
"(Members shall not) upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail,", "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation;"
I would echo JAB's suggestion that you contact this site's administrators at onlinecommunity@alz.org for clarification about these policies.
I hope you will come back often. There are many kind and knowledgeable folks here who can support you and your mom, and I'm sure you have a great deal of insight to offer us, as well.

Oh -- re editing your posts. We can only do that for fifteen minutes after posting. To make changes after that, contact the Alz Assoc: <onlinecom@alz.org>
Give them the URL to this thread: http: // alzheimers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/352104903/m/9784025108
and the changes you'd like made.
You may want to ask them about their rules with regard to your particular situation. If the tools and information at the links you're posting are free to our members, and the "products" and "sales" (including speaking engagements that involve a fee) are directed to an entirely different audience, then it may be okay for you to post the links. What we're not supposed to do is to post links where we, ourselves, will profit financially from the sale of products or services to caregivers or dementia patients.
