Hi guys, so much going on today. I got my form for power of attorney off the internet..FREE and tweaked it to us. Then with that all you do is take your LO and yourself down to the bank and sign it there and the notary will stamp it. Also Free. Our wills are old but may redo and will do that at an attorney. Up here it is over 100 miles to Elder Attorney. For the power of attorney it is as binding as it can be. I know I have other matter but for some reason just doing that was a tiring day. It is very hard for a man to give up the reins. Very hard! We don't have much to divide as only one child and hubby is the last of his family so we can do things simple. If things were complex...hey go to a lawyer.
I Will need to read some other posts today.
Thank you anyone who replied on the nurse asking me a timeline. For me right now I just cannot say. He drives me nuts for sure, I am tired for sure but we are still living o.k.. I said to myself no violence and I know I cannot do diapers and bathing and all of that. So that would be my line in the sand at this point. It's just so hard to totally believe he will not improve. He seems to be slipping alot lately. Asked how his family members died and all of that. Is saying he's so depressed. I am going to take him in to Dr. Also as a thought, I don't care what stages are or any of that. I am just going to play it as it comes. My thing now is my family wants to see me which means US. They have not seen him for a long time and I am sure that they will have a hard time being with him etc. I do and I have had time to adjust. I wonder if they will count the days until I take my "traveling circus" home. oh ya cause we have to take Pal our cat too. It is a 8 hour drive for me and if the hubby thinks he will whistle, talk, sing and whatever non-stop, I will need a rubber room by the time I get there. I have forgotten what a vacation is and what being able to visit someone is without alot of hoopla. But I love my old guy and I signed up for a lifetime tour so will just keep the faith. You all have a good evening..oh p.s...we have been going out for a snack or meal more often. Everyday, not spending a great deal but even coffee and split something just to get outside stimulation. He needs that time
getting out, some sunshine and other people.
Also. I GET OUT. I am rambling tonight but our latest is DH now has decided that HE is going to drive to Seattle from Michigan. We have had airfare etc. for months. Then he swings over to him driving alone up to Alaska. He can only make it a couple of blocks here but is just determined. I had to have our son talk to him and he listened more to him. At first our son thought it was a joke but readily found oh no...pops really is serious. There is quite a change since last we saw the son last April. Will see what happens. I love you guys on here. It takes some kind of guts to be a caretaker so I hold you up and hope God gives you strength.
OMG we also have a funeral this week. Should be interesting too...always something. Much love flowerlady

the following advice is repeated on forum many times in many conversations.

Go to a Elder Affairs Attorney and get your estate plan in order and include all powers of attorney etc.

See post on caregivers "So You are going to provide In-Home Alzheimer's Care"
