This new site might be great. This is my second post (first was on the "Younger On-Set" site) but it seems friendly so far.

Hi, Tom!
It seems a lot more like Facebook than the old forums. I hope everyone likes it.

OK. How do I add photo? I had one from my book signing that was as FB, but I couldn't figure out how to edit it. It's in the wrong format. So I'll just put in an old one.
And Tom, of it'll make you feel better. I'm having difficulty with this.

Just copy and paste

Where are you getting your emotions? I've got them, saved someplace and could bring them over but you seem to have them readily avaiable.

Well, that didn't work. That was a copy of a hyperlink in a document.
Let's try this:
http://alzheimers.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x
Nope, still doesn't work. That was copying the URL.
Copy what?

Emoticons, two ways to add them (that I know of).
One, type in the "code". For example, is entered by typing ";" and then ")".
The smiley emoticon on this website is which I really do not like. It's made by typing ":" and then "D"
Since I don't like it, I highlighted the smiley in a post on the old boards, and did copy-and-paste.

Still trying to get a hyperlink ... this is copy-and-paste of a hyperlink from the "old" site.
http://www.alzinfo.org/clinical-stages-of-alzheimers
OK, that works for now ... but is pretty darned cumbersome.
http://www.aoa.gov/AoARoot/AoA...s/find_agencies.aspx
And it does work even when the full URL was truncated on the "old" site.
Still don't want to have to go back and forth, though.
So Ttom, what are you copying? A Word document, an RTF document, a previous post on the old site ... ?

Yep, I have copied and pasted from a "Word" document. You must be saying that you can't copy and paste from your browser. I'll try that
http://www.blacklakeny.com/forum/
Well eve that worked for me. What are you doing to have a problem posting?

I don't have Word. I use an iMac. The text app that comes with OS X 10.6 has hyperlinks in it, but copy and paste of those doesn't work.
And copying the URL at the very top of the Firefox browser or the Safari browser and pasting that doesn't work, either.
The only thing that works for me is copying a hyperlink from a post on the "old" message boards, or your posts here on beta site.
Even copying hyperlinks on other websites don't paste as such here.
Hmmm... but copying a hyperlink from gmail works, isn't that interesting.

Huh. Well, I can create a pastable link in Google apps. That's progress, I guess. The big problem is I never use Google apps and probably won't be able to remember how I did it. LOL

Typical tests for diagnosing AD: http://www.alzcompend.info/?p=127
OK, I've found a reasonable work-around for me for now. I can just gmail myself, and copy the hyperlinks from that. Easier than trying to go back to the "old" forum, especially since I eventually won't be able to post there any more.

I am ecstatic! This is the first time I have actually been able to post on the new message board. I was convinced it was a glitch in the new program when it was me and me and my new ipad2 . Now that I added ICloud, it solved the problems I thought was program incompatibility with Safari. ???
Yea!! Now my big problem = SMILEYS...JAB and TOM where are You finding them? ? :/
Progress! We're making baby steps...

I don't think the emotions are there for us on this new site just yet. The ones I use I'm copy and pasting for right now.
Congratulations for finding a way to get on this site!

I can't use FB. It's too complicated for me.
So far none of my complaints have been addressed--the small font, the faint print.
I signed I early so I could keep my user name. I don't know if I'll stay. It's already too confusing. I'm not trying to be difficult; I just can't handle written material. Not being able to handle written material is my chief complainit memory-wise, and my weakness is what the website chose to focus on and change. Oh, well..
I'm not interested in photos nor in receiving emails. I prefer to communicate through the message boards.

That's a great photograph of you, Mimi.
But you won't see a photo of me because I have not learned how to upload from my digital camera to the internet. Why is everything so complicated?

Oh, Iris, I would hate to lose you! Is there someone who could come and help you get used to the new board?
I do know there are text-to-speech programs that might help. I would miss you a lot if you weren't here.

Hello Iris! Communicating on this site is about the best I can do also! This site will soon become as user friendly as the old one. Plus, the other one will soon be dropped. Please say with us, we need support from people like you!

Ditto Iris,
Hang in there.
I do hope they hold on getting rid of the old until they have worked the kinks out.
For size, use whatever you do to enlarge anything. My command , shift + may just be for Macs.
It's great to see you here.

Iris, I would cry again if you leave again!! They promise they will improve the font problem! It's essential; we all agree.
This site needs YOU! Furthermore, you need us. We are good for your mental health! ...because we love you! (insert grin)!
We may not like this new system; but I think it's the only way we can keep the rapport we have already built with "friends" we have made.
If we go to a new site, then one has to learn that new system. It's a challenge everywhere we turn.
Another thing that helps with vision when reading is to have it well spaced. Ex. Double space, stc
IRIS! Please try to be patient. Spend small amounts of time. Then rest! But keep your...self here! Please?
Geegee

If my PRINT is easier to read, you can use it by selecting the "B" bold option. When you add a reply, the box appears to type. Just above your cursor is the "B" that you can highlight. It will stay highlighted as you continue to type.

Iris,
Come on woman, you're one of us. We need you! And I think you need us.
Please, don't give up.
I know this change is difficult. Like you, I have Memory Issues.
I don't think I could live well without the support on these boards.
We haven't changed. We still care about you, each other and the rest of the boards. We just have to go slowly. Take our time to learn the new boards.
Please, keep posting!!
Peace and Hope,
Lisa

The bolding is the only thing better on this new board.
