And I will try to connect
All the pieces you left
I will carry it on
And let you forget
And I'll remember the years
When your mind was clear
How the laughter and life
Filled up this silent house

I have had this one for years...

God doesn't zap us with patience and tolerance.

If we pray for these qualities, He develops them in us by sending us difficult people to love.

For some reason the song You are my sunshine was in my head today when I got up. My Mom used to sing it to us(very badly) and I followed that with my kids.

Might not be a quote really but its a good thought for today.

You are my Sunshine my only sunshine........

Finish every day and be done with it.  You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities do doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can.  Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just when you think it can't get any worse, it can.  And just when you think it can't get any better, it can. - Nicholas Sparks, At First Sight

We need each other.

Each of us is responsible for what happens on this earth.

We are each absolutely essential, each totally irreplaceable.

Each of us is the swing vote in the bitter battle now being waged between our best and our worst possibilities.

To forgive somebody is to say that one way or another, “You have done something unspeakable, and by all rights I should call it quits between us. Both my pride and principles demand no less. However, although I make no guarantees that I will be able to forget what you’ve done and though we may both carry scars for life, I refuse to let it stand between us. I still want you for my friend…” When somebody you’ve wronged forgives you, you’re spared the dull and self-diminishing throb of a guilty conscience. When you forgive somebody who has wronged you, you’re spared the dismal corrosion of bitterness and wounded pride. For both parties, forgiveness means the freedom to again to be at peace inside their own skins and to be glad in each other’s presence.

(Frederick Buechner, 1926 - )

On some positions, Cowardice asks the question, "Is it safe?"

Expediency asks the question, "Is it politic?"

And Vanity comes along and asks the question, "Is it popular?" But Conscience asks the question "Is it right?"

And there comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but we must do it because Conscience tells us it is right.

Rosalyn Carter said it best: “There are only four kinds of people in the world – those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers”.

I wish you enough.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Goodbye.”

I wish you enough.

Sorry, I don't know who to give credit to but I love this poem.

Oh, the comfort—the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person—having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.

(Dinah Maria Mulock Craik, 1826 – 1887)
