Passing this on in case you are interested:
We are pleased to announce that the Alzheimer’s Association®is working with Chicken Soup for the Soul to make a very special and important book: Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer’s & Other Dementias. And we invite you to submit a story!
Living with Alzheimer’s or caring for someone with the disease is life changing. If you are facing Alzheimer’s or another dementia, you have a unique opportunity to share your story and turn your experience into inspiration for others confronting the disease.
Your personal perspective as an individual living with the disease, a caregiver or an affected friend or family member will provide practical advice, encouragement, insight and support to readers. Your words will inspire and comfort others going through similar experiences and let them know that they are not alone.
Submissions are due Oct. 15. To learn more, including details on submission and guidelines for story length, please visit www.chickensoup.com.

I thought I replied on this but I guess not....I think this is great. I am not sure we are far enough along in the disease to make a difference with our story.

quits, I think now is the time to contribute. When we can no longer express ourselves, it will be too late. What is your story? How did you figure out you were having problems? What was your attitude then and now? What are your hopes and dreams and fears?

Dementia, oh Dementia, robber of my mind,
I search for memories I can not find!
The thoughts you steal are from now & then,
not to be missed until asked, "remember when"!
Not to recall things causes me much regret
for the memories of the past, & as of yet!
You can take the memories of sorrow and woe,
but please leave me the ones I need to know,
the lessons I have learned through this life of mine,
character builders, and social interactions are just fine!
God started my life with a battle most physical,
now as an adult, he gave me one so mental,
now I have two wars to fight, each at both end,
now I am curious as to which will win!
Dementia, oh Dementia, robber of my mind,
If you tend to persist, all I ask is you be kind!

What a heart-piercing lament, mhbelfry!
Welcome to our online support group. I'm glad you're here but sorry for the reason you are here.
I'm going to keep your poem to remember.

What a beautiful poem. I think you should send it to "Chicken Soup for the Soul". It explains in a true way what we're going thru. Thanks for sharing this.

Just an old poem I forgot that I had written.
Remember Me
When you look into my eyes and you see the loss and fear don't be afraid for me or cry for me Remember Me!
When you see me wander off or take a wrong turn don't fear for my safety take my hand and Remember Me!
When I say something backwards or jumble my words just be patient and Remember Me!
When I make silly faces or say silly things laugh with me and Remember Me!
When I rub my head or look away I feel the sense of loss and fear I'm searching for the right turn I'm searching for the right words I'm trying to Remember Me!
