The language guidelines posted on Kate Swaffer's blog is an easy 7-page read about preferred language terms for people living with dementia, symptoms of dementia, as well as, preferred terms for family members and friends caring for persons with dementia. The guidelines were posted by Alzheimer's Australia during Alzheimer's Awareness Week in 2014. The concept of culturally sensitive language and terms when referring to persons with disabilities is know in the United States as 'person first' language.
