This topic hasn't come up lately (except for the FTD grants) so I thought I would gather some current info. With the passing of the RAISE Family Caregiver Act, these programs should be expanded. Always check with your local Agency on Aging & Alz Assn. chapter. Here are two very informative links:
I don't think either of these resources mentions the Hilarity for Charity respite program. They have teamed with Home Instead to provide assistance for AD & dementia caregivers:
Note that the AFA (Alzheimer's Foundation of America) respite grants are awarded bi-annually (spring & fall) directly to non-profit applicants, typically in 15 $5,000. grants that could provide 10 $500. "respite scholarships." If your daycare is a non-profit, ask them to apply for one of these grants by calling (866) 232-8484
For info about the Lifespan program, add your state's two letter abbreviation to "www.lifespanrespite.org(XX)". This federally funded program appoints a different service organization in each state to administer it locally (in mine it's Easter Seals).
