This was according to statistics from the Alzheimer's Association several years ago.  Many of those who live alone have adult children, adult grandchildren, siblings or other family member who is willing and able to become the family caregiver.  But what about those who don't have a family caregiver? We cannot rely on friends, even boyfriend or girlfriend.  

I have decided to rely on technology and elder care profesionals.  The problem is that technology needs to be learned, and many elder care professionals are incompetent or unsuitable for various reasons.  The main person I will rely on to provide my care is myself!  This requires a lot of changes, especially in thought.  

Fortunately, I have learned quite a lot from the members here, things I have never learned from the outside world.  Only two professionals out of several that I consulted gave me good advice.  What I learned was to use Best Practices to enable me to get to a point when I can get my home and other affairs in order.  This is extremely hard to do alone with cognitive impairment and medical limitations, but I won't give up!  My future life and lifestyle depends upon what I am doing now.
