Well mother has been sitting at the dining room table for the past 5 hours. As soon as the sun set she became  someone else. Like Barnabus on Dark Shadows. She is not tired but she is agitated.  She is.NOT happy.  She has been fed, toileted and medicated. Obviously  I'm in for another all nighter. Pray for me, I've been up since dawn ugh.

I asked  her if she would  like to go to bed and her answer was  " go to hell ".  That's funny I thought I was already there. This is the life of a caretaker. I'm absolutely  ignoring her and going in my room to get away from her. I can see everything  she does from.there. She is safe. This is all I can do.

I’m glad you can go into another room to relax yet keep an eye on her. I would wait her out and hopefully she will eventually get sleepy and want to go to bed. I’m sorry you are having to deal with this, it sucks!

Hi Neverends. my Mom would get agitated generally around 3:00 pm. We initially tried Seroquel to help alleviate her agitation. This did not work for her. Risperidone did help to quell most of her agitation. Remeron also helped to make her sleepy for nighttime.

That being said we also would be alert for triggers for her agitation. Sometimes it was the news. Sometimes it was a television program. We kept the living room bright with lights. So we adjusted as we learned what triggers might be for her agitation. It was always learning in progress. Triggers always changed!

Hope this helps- I will keep you and your Mom in my prayers.
