Is the Alzheimer's Association a good place to send donations or do those that run it take alot in salaries? My DH is 92 and has AD and for future reference I want to know when he passes if I should list the Association as a choice for friends and family to send donations in his name.

I think I answered my own question. I looked up info on Charity Watch and they gave the Alzheimer's Association a B + in 2020.

They aren't without some issues as with any national organization, but I know on a local level the Alzheimers Association is often a wonderful resource so I did list it as the place for my mother's memorials. Other than them there is no other resource in my area that is helping families dealing with dementia, at least on any significant level. My chapter is quite supportive and have many services to offer. It is possible there is also a charity local to you that is doing good work in memory care or other services to the Alz community. They are usually very small operations. I know of a couple in my area who do things like bring art or music or therapy animals into memory care facilities and things like that.

I suppose one could donate and specify that the funds be directed towards a specific program, such as this very valuable message board.
