Sometimes we need to get away from the dementia world and find something to lift our spirits.  Perhaps we can post videos and photos that are uplifting.

Here is a video that I saw on the Weird Sense of Humor thread.    It's about Christian the Lion.
http://www.wimp.com/christianlion/

Enjoy!

Great story Iris. I have to agree this dimentia does not define me yet anyway, so I won't dwell on it 24/7.

Iris, that was absolutely incredible! I loved the video and its wonderful message. It brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thanks for sharing it. We need more like that to brighten our spirits as we continue to do battle each day.

God bless, Paul

A beautiful video about hummingbirds, bumblebees and butterflies--to lift our spirits.

 https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/xHkq1edcbk4?rel=0

Apparently it was made to focus on the technology, but it still shows how marvelous nature is.  This is just for enjoyment.  It has nothing to do with dementia.  Larry posted it on the Spouse/Partner board.

Iris, an absolutely amazing and breathtaking video! I loved it!

In the gardens that surround my home, the butterflies and hummingbirds feast on the flowers and I love watching them. Of course, they pale in comparison to this video. Nonetheless they are still enjoyable to watch from my patio.

Thanks for posting this. I hope everyone takes the time to watch it. They will be blessed!

God Bless, Paul

Jo C posted  "Winter Verse for My Friends" on the Spouse/Partner board.

We can all use a smile and this one makes me smile . . . .

"I made myself a snowball

as perfect as could be,

I thought I'd keep it as a pet

and let it sleep with me

I made it some pajamas

and a pillow for its head,

Then last night it ran away

but first it wet the bed!"

This is a very old thread put on the Message Board back on December of 2013 and it was positive and uplifting; BUT know what?

It is well worthwhile setting it into place again as a gift to all of us . . . . .

Can we find more?

I'll have to do a bit of looking.

Knowing Iris is well and at peace would uplift my spirits.

Certainly someone has communicated with her? People living alone - when there is no news I feel concerned for someone to knock on the door and check.

Iris, thinking of you every day.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched that Christian the Lion video and can never get enough! A good flashmob is always uplifting! Ok, the video of that amazing little dog is to much! How cute! My shih Tzu knows one good trick! LOL

I love Meghan's Trainor's voice and this song brings tears to my eyes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-MBfn8XjIU

We were walking on moonlight
And you pulled me close
Split second and you disappeared
And then I was all alone

I woke up in tears
With you by my side
A breath of relief
And I realized
No, we're not promised tomorrow

So I'm gonna love you like I'm gonna lose you
And I'm gonna hold you like I'm saying goodbye
Wherever we're standing
I won't take you for granted
'Cause we'll never know when, when we'll run out of time

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-MBfn8XjIU

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Wishing everyone a great day!

A funny Thanksgiving poem

The Night Before Thanksgiving

'Twas the night before Thanksgiving
and in my sleep,
Strange dreams in my mind,
began to creep.

Thanksgiving leftovers beckoned
the dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation
with all my might.

Tossing and turning
with anticipation,
The thought of a snack
became infatuation.

So to the kitchen I did race,
Flung open the door
and gazed at the fridge
full of goodies galore!

I gobbled up turkey
and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling
so plump and so round
Till all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground!

I crashed through the ceiling
floating into the sky
with a mouth full of pudding
and a handful of pie

But I managed to yell
as I soared past the trees...
"Happy eating to all and
Pass the cranberries, please!"

Jo C. posted a cute poem on the Younger Onset board, and I thought everyone could use a chuckle.

"I made myself a snowball

 as perfect as could be;

I thought I'd keep it as a pet

 and let it sleep with me;

 I made it some pajamas

 and a pillow for its head;

Then last night it ran away

Bela on the Caregiver's board posted this rendition of

Auld Lang Syne by Susan Boyle.  There may follow

her first audition on Britain's Got Talent.

I never tire of watching her performance,

which always lifts my spirits.

Happy New Year 2016, everyone!

I saw a brief segment on the news tonight about this veteran and how his service dog treated his severe ptsd after his Iraq war injuries.  The beginning is about his war injuries, and then his severe ptsd, then the ending is about how the dog saved him and brought him back to functioning.

How a Golden Retriever Saved Army Veteran Luis Montalvan

Published on May 19, 2013

Captain Luis Carlos Montalvan returned from war with a severe case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. But thanks to a Service Dog named Tuesday, Luis has turned his life around...

A member on the Spouse/Partner board posted how watching fish swimming in an aquarium can be soothing.  In this time of Coronavirus related restrictions, we may be in need of more soothing.  The Aquarium of the Pacific has webcams of penguins, sharks, jellyfish and other marine animals for viewing.  There are additional educational materials and links to their Youtube videos for more animals.
