Tonight was my last evening with my dad.  Quiet, calm.

Rest in Peace Dad, I will always you.

April 11, 1926 - December 19, 2015

And the only thing that really mattered was the dash.

His Daughter always.

My heart goes out to you.  I am sorry for your loss, and hope there are loving people around you who will help you as you get through these next days and weeks.  Even though we have never met, you are a caregiver sister, and  I send you a long-distance hug right now.  God bless you for all you have done, and comfort you as you grieve.

I send heartfelt sympathy on the death of your beloved father; I am so glad that you were with him and that he was peaceful as he passed from this earth.

He was blessed with a wonderful quality of life gifted to him by a wonderful family while on this journey, and it is evident that he felt the love and caring.

I send warm wishes and hope that comfort finds you soon in the memories of the beautiful sharing during his and your lifetime, and in how your and your family's faithful care and oversight added to his last months of life.

Peace,

J.

My condolences on your loss. It took me a minute to figure out what you meant by the only thing that mattered was the dash. Very true.

Even when we know that death is imminent it's still a shock to the system.

I am so sorry to read this and please accept my sympathy.  You are a wonderful and caring daughter and your Dad was so fortunate to have love surround him.  I am very surprised at how fast this seemed at the end of his journey - thinking of you today --

His Daughter-

Veteran's Kid told me about your post and I am so so sorry. The world seems such a bleaker place for the loss of the incredible men that we were lucky enough to call "Dad".

" ...I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours... " Abraham Lincoln

...the solemn pride that is OURS, the gratitude to have loved and been loved by such honorable men and loving fathers.

Thinking of you-

AJ

His Daughter

I am so sorry for your loss. You were so brave and loving all the years that your dear father needed you. I know he must have been so proud to call you , "my daughter". I will always admire the tender, yet ferocious care you gave your ill father, but I will remember most the love you gave him. I hope this end will be the start of a bright and light new beginning for you. May your heart be comforted by the Love of your father and the Creator.

Tess

Please accept my condolences in the loss of your dear Dad, His Daughter.  You both fought a valiant battle against his illness.  He lived with dignity and love, and died the same way.  May God comfort you and your family at this time.

I am sorry for your loss, His Daughter. You are special, have been a GREAT caregiver, and given wonderful support and advice to others on the message boards. I pray for peace, comfort, and rest for you and your family.  The verse below, I believe, exemplifies you and what you have done for your dad:

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters...It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24

His Daughter,

The "dash"...your dads was so filled with living!  He was, and always will be, a shining example of a true man.  A man who loved his family, his country, and life.

I know his screen name is "my daughter". And the LOVE he has for you remains always.

I hope knowing he's dancing with your mom again will help comfort you, your family, and his entertainment committee.

It's been a such s long journey for all of you.

He is free of this hateful disease now forever.

Although we think we're ready and prepared, it's still a shock to your system.  The finality of it.

There are no words I can say to help, just know I am always here for you.

You are very much "His Daugher".  You follow in the footsteps of a great example and he is very, very, proud of you.  You, like him, are a fighter.

You have no regrets, you have been right by his side, loving and caring for him.  Fighting for him.  You've done everything and more.

You're a great advocate and so many here look to you for your kind words, and advice.

You are one of the strongest people I know.

A new chapter begins for your book, my friend.

Know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for letting us know,

Love and hugs,

VK

My thoughts and prayers are with you. We have lost so many this year and I'll bet they are all up there trying to tell us not to mourn because better things are ahead. But that doesn't keep us from missing them. You were a loving daughter who took care of your dad and I am sure he is smiling down on you.

I'm also saddened by your news. Your dad was so blessed to have you caring for him. You watched over him for so long, now it's his turn to watch over you.

Remembering you both in my prayers,

Sending you strength and peace to face the days ahead. Praying that the memories of the good years and life's joys return to replace those of the AD journey.

Blessings.
