 While this is good news it will not help us here in the US. This company in China has developed the first new drug in 16 years for Alzheimers. If this show benefits it just may help us here. Progress is slowly being made.

The article reads like advertising, what with all the "hard work" expended in developing the drug.  It's not clear how helpful this might be, as they compared it to "no meds" as opposed to the common ones now available.  Always good to hear some progress, but I will wait to see what this actually means "on the ground".

About the only information about this drug (sodium oligo-mannurarate from brown algae) in English comes from the company's press releases.   Green Valley says the drug de-aggregates amyloid and reduces neuroinflammation and gut dysbiosis (imbalance between bad and good bacteria).  All of this may lead to initial improvements in cognition (the trial was for 36 weeks) but whether these can be sustained is the big question.
