My husband has dementia and is beginning to be incontinent when he sits for any time, for example while watching a movie.  Has anyone had success with a wrist watch with alarms to remind their spouse to go to the toilet?  I have looked at watches that are designed for pill reminders that hold up to 8 alarms a day which seems like it would work.

No, but I just discovered that my I phone can do this.

Thank you.  Does it remind you and you remind him?  I am looking for something that would remind him when I am not here and he is here with his companion.

I put a variety of alarms on my husband’s iPhone to remind him to take medications, go to the toilet, shower, etc.  They worked until he lost the ability to understand what the alarms meant, even though they were labeled.  Now I’m the alarm, lol. Will your husband know what the watch alarms mean? I suppose his companion could prompt him “that’s your reminder to go to the toilet”.

I also tried using the iPhone reminders/alarms.  She would understand what they were for awhile, but then kind of forgot why it was happening or what to do about it.  Basically it didn't work for very long.  Plus my mom is a procrastinator so even if I try to give verbal reminders to "take a bathroom break", so often says she will in just a minute, or that she just did a short while ago.  I wish you luck in finding something that will work for you and your LO.

From the comments here, it sounds as if a "reminder device" needs to be one the person doing the caregiving can hear/use and then do a verbal reminder with LO.
