Anyone get headaches from the Yelling?

Most days I can deal with being home in the house while caregivers are in charge of my son with EO.  But daily for several weeks now there comes a time later in the afternoon that the sundowning becomes intense and there is much yelling and nasty drama from my son.  Unfortunately I have few chances to take a break and leave my home.  So I find I get bad headaches often. Am sure it is from the stress and the noise level. Other than gulping ibuprofen,Tylenol or Advil or something, and being unable to lay down in a quiet place to rest, what would you try to do to reduce daily headaches?

Sounds like the surgery your son had  didn’t help as much as expected. I’m sure you’ve already discussed medication changes etc. can you get yourself a pair of noise canceling headphones?

Dear Cobalt, I am very sorry the yelling episodes have started up again. I feel terrible for you and your son and the caregivers. I think of you often and I wish I had a good suggestion to help you. When is the last time you’ve had a real break from caregiving? Is it at all possible for you to get some respite time for yourself? I’m sure I’m not the only one here who worries about you. You are in my prayers and my heart.

Respite is always good.

The better gun shops sell custom fitted ear plugs that cancel loud noises but permit normal conversation.  The purpose is to prevent hearing loss from repeated exposure to gunfire, but they might help your tension headaches as well.

I am on the spectrum and loud noises have always been an issue for me, so I have always had a pair of custom earplugs on hand, in conjunction with a solid pair of noise canceling headphones do not skimp on them. I recommend going to bestbuy buying a pair trying them for a week then returning them within the 14 day return period. If you go down the noise canceling headset route.

My insurance covered my fitted earplugs but you can also go to gunshop or a specialized hardware store they should also be able to direct you. These are the things to ride out my mom's episode's when she has them and I do not feel like giving in.
