As I was getting ready for bed I heard bumping noises. I come out to the dining room to discover mom has brought 2 dining table chairs back to the table, they were in the sunroom. I tell her those chairs are not safe, they have wobbly legs & loose backs(fiblet). Now she is using the word whatever, just like my dad did as his vocabulary was becoming limited. I went back to my room fuming, as I lay in bed thinking - now what. The idea hits me to take all 8 dining table chairs to the basement. It is just after 1am and the deed is done. I also grabbed another chair pad & put it in 'her chair', maybe that will be enough to raise her elbows above the chair arms. That may have been 1 of the problems, the other problem - just doesn't want the new chair.

Oh my gosh, you're like the Jessica Fletcher of Chairland --things that go bump in the night could be in the dining room with Mama and the side chair --hope it works!

Thanks for the giggle - I love Maggie Smith.
I think the extra chair pad helped in raising her elbows above the arms of the chair. Now she keeps asking about the other chairs. I don't want to bring one back for me to sit in as then she has the opportunity to switch chairs with me. I am waiting another week or so until I see she has accepted this chair. I just stand at the counter and eat.

I actually find joy in this chair dilemma, at yours and your mom’s expense I guess, sorry. Thank you for sharing here and your other posts. I look forward to your updates.

It is rather funny isn't it? I did hit upon an idea for me and having a temporary chair while the others are gone - the wheeled desk chair. I know she won't try and switch that one.
