Welcome tcbny.  There are several members here with cognitive impairment or early dementia.  You are not alone.  How are you caring for yourself?

Tcbny,

My name is Jonathan.  I'm 63 and was diagnosed with dementia over a year ago, most likely Alzheimers.  I am married with a loving wife, however she is having difficulties dealing and helping with the difficulties I am dealing with.  I have just signed up for this site and have provided my wife with info on a local support group for Alzheimers care givers.  I'm not sure where I will find the additional help that I need, however I will continue to look.

I'm 75 and newly diagnosed. You are not alone. I suffer from anxiety and depression and panic wrecks for years. This diagnosis does not help. I find so much help and support for the therapist  I have had for years. A psychiatric nurse practicing with experience treating elderly. Best wishes to you. I'm glad I didn't get this earlier in life.

AAs a newly diagnosed but 7 years showing increasing symptoms,, I have finally seen a lawyer to write a will. I'm also making lists of which bills have to be paid monthly/ quarterly, and where and how to submit payments. Just thinking about it makes me panic and I keep procrastinating completing. Anyone else?

Welcome to this online support group, Jonathan.  You and your wife can find support and answers to your questions.  You are welcome to continue to post on this board, and your wife will be welcome to post on the Spouse/Partner board.  Actually, all boards are open to all members, but some boards are more focused regarding their topics.

A local caregiver support group is a good idea.  Also see if your area offers a Memory Club, which is a group for PWDs (persons with dementia).  Some groups may meet at the same time.

Do you have any more questions?  Please feel free to post., so we can support each other.

Iris

Deebee, I have most of my monthly bills on automatic payment.  I am working on getting more of them on automatic payment.  Do you have anyone to help you, or are you doing everything alone?

You have some people you want to leave your assets to in your will.  Will any of these people be able to help you now?
