It’s been almost one year since I lost my husband. This community was a lifesaver for me at times. I will love him always.

I heard your voice today.
I woke from an afternoon sleep. Your words were clear, I felt you near.
I heard your voice today.
I saw your shadow today.
You passed me in the garden. I could see your smile, after awhile.
I saw your shadow today.
I felt your touch today.
It was in the summer breeze. Where our wind chimes hang, they gently rang.
I felt your touch today.
I knew your scent today.
It was behind the office door. Paper and ink, old files I think.
I knew your scent today.
I spoke your name today.
I called out to you in the night. I waited for your reply, and then began to cry.
I spoke your name today.
I’m missing you today.
You’re here, but in a different place. I know you’re well, my heart can tell.
But I’m missing you today.

Lovely, just lovely !

I am always amazed at how poetry allows one to become immersed into a thought. I enjoy both  writing it and reading. I have no doubt that you did indeed touch, hear, and see your husband, as I experience those things with my Barbara, even though she has been gone now for about 5 months and 6 days now.

Thanks for sharing your inner feelings with us, Sally. It is truly an honor to be allowed to see the love you have for your husband.

Chris
